Must do in Lanzarote: Sunset in Papagayo Beach
The island is full of incredible locations where you can contemplate magnificent sunsets, but surely the one from Papagayo Beach has to be one of the best places to view a sunset in Lanzarote. Located just a 10 minute drive from Villas de la Marina or a 20 minute bycicle ride away, the beach of Papagayo is probably the most famous beach of Lanzarote, and even if it’s quite popular during the day, it will be almost empty by the time the sun hides behind the sea. Capturing that moment while you lay in the sand listening to the gentle waves entering the beach is something really special, and if you are so lucky to go there on one of the few days when the horizon is free of clouds, it will truly be a day to remember.
A good plan is to go first to the Chiringuito overlooking the beach. They cook a lovely paella and is one of the few restaurants in the island where you feel privileged just for being there, contemplating such an amazing view. The mojitos they prepare are also one of the best you can have in Lanzarote, so going there right after sunset is also a very good option.
In winter it might be advisable to take some warm clothes with you as it gets cool pretty fast after the sun is down.
