What are the best ways to get to Villas de la Marina?

Villas de la Marina is located in Playa Blanca, right at the entrance of Marina Rubicón, and is a set of eight houses four of which have access from Avenida de Papagayo (the road that leaves Playa Blanca towards Papagayo Beaches) and the other four have access from a dead end driveway that begins in Calle La Calera nº11.

If you do a search in Google it will display and give directions for Avenida de Papagayo 30, which is the correct address for Villa Sloop, Ketch, Yawl and Cutter (villas 1, 2, 3 & 4 respectively). The Google Street View capture for the villas on this side is really old (hopefully they’ll update soon), but this is what it should look like (bear in mind that where you see Café Chesa is now Liam Beauty Saloon):

On the other side of the complex, and a bit closer to the sea, are located Villa Lugger, Xebec, Schooner and Barque (5, 6, 7 & 8), should you have any of these booked, then you should set on the GPS “Calle La Calera 11” in Playa Blanca. Once you get to the destination point, you have to enter a narrow driveway just next to the office of “Inmobiliaria Puerto Rubicón“. This is the Street View of the exact place to enter:

Now that you know where Villas de la Marina is located, perhaps you are wondering what are the best ways to get there? Here are some options:

Rent a car

Luckily, car rentals in Lanzarote are pretty cheap and 7 out of 8 of our villas have a private parking space (in the one that doesn’t you can safely park right outside). Two good options for car rental are Cabrera Medina (a local company) and AutoReisen as they have very competitive rates, the price you see is what you pay (no hidden extras) and you pay upon arrival. Both have offices on the airport that will wait for you even if your plane lands at night with delay, and from the airport is a 30 minute drive to Playa Blanca.

Should you opt for car rental, bear in mind that Google (or your favourite GPS system) is going to offer you two routes to go to Playa Blanca (click here to see them). The fastest route suggested is going to take you through the mountains and the town of Femés, and even if it is a lovely drive, I don’t recommend you to take it after dark as it’s full of curves and narrow roads. A much better option is to stick to the LZ-2 since you leave the airport and all the way to Playa Blanca. Once in Playa Blanca just keep going straight ahead until you’re forced to turn left and enter Avenida de Papagayo.

Bus

+ Shuttle Bus with Last Minute Transfers: The service this local company provides will see you sharing a bus with a few other tourists and will usually drop you at Villas de la Marina after 2 or 3 stops (sometimes they will even take you directly). Price for up to 4 people is between 10€ and 20€, depending on the times.
+ Regular Bus Service: Line 161 (and less regurlarly 261) goes from the airport to Playa Blanca, but the trip takes well over an hour as it goes through Puerto del Carmen and Yaiza finishing at Playa Blanca Bus Station which is a 30 minute walk (or 5 minute taxi drive) to Villas de la Marina. Price is 3,30€ per person.

Private Transfer

+ Limousine Transfer: A more luxurious option, but not that expensive, at 69€ per way for a maximum of four people.

Taxi

A taxi from the airport to the villa would tipically cost you around 45€ per way. There’s always plenty at the airport and as far as I know there’s no way to reserve them for that particular service, so you might have to queue.
